Petroleum

Petroleum is and is forecast to remain essential for global energy security. Global disruption and supply chain shocks continue to demonstrate the vital role of diversified petroleum supply.

Tri-Star has a formidable track record of exploration excellence in petroleum.  Tri-Star pioneered commercial coal seam gas in Australia by adopting technology from North America. This has supported the development of the multi-billion-dollar CSG to LNG industry in Australia and Tri-Star has maintained long-term interests in many of the fields it discovered.

In North America, Tri-Star has a strong track record of safe petroleum production and longstanding partnerships with landholders.

Tri-Star is currently increasing its investment in Petroleum assets. In North America, the focus is on high-exploration risk, high-impact wells in Texas and Louisiana.  These opportunities may be onshore or offshore.  In Australia, Tri-Star is rebalancing its portfolio to discover new petroleum resources with proximity to existing infrastructure.

With strong technical experience in both the North American and Australian offices, Tri-Star brings unparalleled knowledge and innovation to our exploration effort.

Assets

Operated

  • Tri-Star is the 100% holder of three petroleum exploration licences in the Copper Peddy region of South Australia.

These licences provide the exploration opportunity to target multiple play types within the Permian Arckaringa Basin and Pre-Permian sediments. All necessary environmental approvals are in place to drill and stimulate wells.

  • Tri-Star's Gilbert Gully project represents a promising venture in the realm of coal seam gas, backed by a proven resource that stands near crucial infrastructure and existing coal seam gas fields. This strategic positioning contributes significantly to the project's potential success.

At the heart of the Gilbert Gully project lies a deliberate focus on the richly prospective Walloons Subgroup. This geological formation is renowned for its substantial, thick, gaseous coal seams, presenting a prime target for gas extraction.

Before Tri-Star's involvement, Origin held the tenement, spearheading an extensive exploration and appraisal program that encompassed the drilling of more than 60 wells. This initiative significantly contributed to the existing knowledge base and resource evaluation within the area.

Tri-Star has solidified its position in the project by securing a 100% interest in Authority to Prospect 663, which forms the foundation for its involvement in the development and exploration of the area. Additionally, there's a retention license covering the northern section of the tenement, and Tri-Star has recently applied for a retention license covering most of the remaining ATP, reinforcing its commitment to this area.

Presently, Tri-Star is actively exploring various pathways to advance this project toward a state of readiness for development.

  • Tri-Star directed its resources and expertise towards comprehensively exploring an underexploited and promising deep and tight gas prospect within the Fairfields project. Through an extensive process involving drilling, completing, and stimulating a series of deep wells, Tri-Star acquired a wealth of invaluable intellectual property and a profound understanding of the intricate geology associated with tight gas reservoirs in the Queensland region. This in-depth knowledge gathered through hands-on experience and rigorous analysis has positioned Tri-Star at the forefront of understanding the complexities and nuances of extracting gas from such formations.

With this acquired expertise, Tri-Star now seeks to capitalise on its wealth of knowledge and insights, aiming to unlock new opportunities within the industry. The company intends to apply this specialised understanding of deep and tight gas geology to further exploration endeavours, potentially discovering and developing additional gas resources while optimising extraction techniques in similar geological formations. This strategic leverage of their accumulated knowledge is expected to pave the way for innovative approaches and successful ventures in pursuing new gas reservoirs and enhanced extraction methodologies.

    Simpson Basin Project

  • Tri-Star is the operator and majority owner of the Kent County project located in Texas.

Oil has been the primary exploration focus on this acreage since the 1980’s, with three of the original Wallace wells still in production today.

In 2013, Tri-Star made a discovery via the Kronos #1 well, which propelled further exploration activities and field development. Seven more wells have been added to this field.

Currently, there are seven producing oil wells on this tenure, with cumulative monthly production totaling roughly 3,000 barrels.

Non-Operated

  • Tri-Star has long-term interests in some of the world’s best-performing coal seam fields. These fields include Arcadia, Combabula, Condabri, Durham Ranch and Spring Gully, Fairview and Roma East.

The long-term interests from farm-out deals, include royalties, gas sales, conversion rights and reversion rights. Each agreement also comes with significant access to information
