In 2024, John Butler was appointed as an Executive Director of Tri-Star.
John's formative years were spent in production fields as a 3rd generation oilman, acquiring expertise accompanying his late father, John P. Butler, production foreman for West Texas Oil & Gas. He earned a finance degree with cum laude honors from Texas State University, bridging production operations management and corporate leadership.
John has led Tri-Star’s US operations for more than 11 years, managing drilling and completion campaigns, bringing production online and under budget. John has demonstratedleadership in all facets of the upstream and midstream disciplines, without safety incidents or regulatory issues. He has optimised Tri-Star’s US assets throughout their lifecycle, including acquisition, production, and divestment.
Throughout his tenure at Tri-Star, John has also supportedAustralian operations, managing the substantial Pedirka drilling campaign in the centre of Australia, leading unconventional exploration in the Bowen Basin, and providing procurement solutions for operations across the continent.
Prior to joining Tri-Star John had worked for production and completion service companies for almost 10 years among the Permian and Delaware Basins, with international exposure in Turkey and Mexico.
