Matt Dangel
Vice President - Reservoir Engineering
Matt Dangel was appointed as the Vice President – Reservoir Engineering at Tri-Star in July 2023, where he is responsible for evaluating exploration and development portfolio investment decisions in the US. He brings 18 years of successful, broadly diversified industry experience to the company.
Before Tri-Star, Matt worked both thermal heavy oil and conventional tight gas assets for Chevron. He then joined Hilcorp Energy as a reservoir engineer and worked in a wide variety of fields along the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast. Matt was then a founding member of the New Ventures team, exploring across the Lower 48 and Alaska before joining the A&D team, where he evaluated more than $6B of properties for acquisition.
Matt holds a Master of Engineering in Petroleum Engineering, a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, all awarded by Texas A&M University. He is also a member of the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Texas.
